403 - Access denied by access control list - Home network

Hi everyone,

I've connected my laptop to my desktop PC with a direct ethernet to ethernet
connection to share the broadband connection on my desktop machine.

I set up the network settings on the desktop machine using the wizard and
made sure it was
set to share the internet to other computers.

I made sure i set the same workgroup on both machines as well to allow file
and printer
sharing.

Then i connected the two machines and made similar setting changes on my
laptop.

It worked absolutely fine until i restated the laptop. Now, when i use
internet explorer, i get the
message:

403 FORBIDDEN
you were denied access because,
Access denied by access control list.

Any good ideas?

Rob.

Re-read my original message.

The KB article is for "When you try to view a Web site after you connect to
your Internet service provider (ISP) by using a dial-up connection, you may
receive the following error message"

I am connecting the laptop to another PC directly and have no ISP dial-up
connection on it.

Any other thoughts on this? If it can only happen as a result of broken ISP
settings then something odd has happened... i feel a registry hack coming
on...

Let me know if you have any other ideas on this one.

Thanks for the reply though.

I take it there is no other reason that this message could appear?

I'll check the laptop again but i'm certain that no dial-up access has
been set up.

I'll also login in as a different user and see if it works then... any
other thought always gratefully received.

Thanks,

Rob.
