3rd party security w/ MS defender + firewal

My new Dell came with Trend Micro Security Suite 14. Don't know why it's
called that, looks like Trend Micro Suite 2007. Anyway, now that I've
upgraded to Home Premium that has MS Defender plus a 2way firewall, what
should I leave running. I know to only run 1 firewall, but which one?
Should I leave Defender and the TM Suite both running in background
protecting the same thing.

Currently I have the full TM Suite + Defender - MS Firewall. All seems ok
that I can tell.

MS, any suggestions?

Thanks,
EEH

If you aren't having any problems, I'd let it be. Although you should only
run one firewall, multiple spyware & anti-virus programs can be a good
thing.

You might try going to a few sites, i.e. online banking, video's, secure
sites, etc. and see if you have any problems. Also, are you on a network
with other PC's? You might see if you can share files without any problem.
If not, it might be fine the way it is.

Actually, this is incorrect. It is a very bad idea to have more than one
antivirus program running resident and multiple antispyware programs can
also be problematic if they run resident.

To the OP: you need to have an antivirus installed. I don't care for
Trend's consumer-level programs myself. Recommended antiviruses are
Kaspersky, NOD32, and Avast!.

I would be very hesitant to run third-party antispyware programs at this
time. It is still too early to tell how vulnerable Vista will be. Unless
you know you're not going to practice Safe Hex, you should be fine using
just Windows Defender and Vista's firewall.

I was given webroot spyware program with my new laptop that has vista. I
occasionaly, well about once a week will have my computer suffer a error and
reboot. I have found that it is because of the spyware program. Should I just
get rid of this program and only use the windows protection service? What do
you suggest?
