3rd parter RDP Servers for XPHome other than winConnect?

I've used the demo of winConnect Server XP on my XP Home
box and successfully Remote Desktopped into it from a
Win98 laptop. XP Home doesn't act as a server natively.
Does anyone know of any 3rd party software other than
winConnect that will let you use XP Home as a server?
You should be able to write one, since the RDP SDK is
public, and winConnect proves that you can. (winConnect
doesn't quite do what I want, since it has a different
hosting model, and it's expensive.)

Barring that, is there something that will act as a
client for Remote Assistance that works on win 98?

Really what I want is to use a laptop screen as a
portable monitor for a luggable highpower box. So I am
looking for very fast screen refreshes, and Remote
Desktop is outstanding. The fastest other program I've
found is rAdmin. Anybody know of anything faster?

In your situation look at VNC or NetMeeting RDS to access/control a remote XP Home machine. Get the
VNC server and client from...

http://www.realvnc.com or http://www.tightvnc.com

NetMeeting is built-in to XP and 2000 and can *NOT* be upgraded. Get the newest version of
NetMeeting for Win Me/NT/9X from...

http://www.microsoft.com/netmeeting

Look at this KB article for help with RDS...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;233175

If this is over the public internet, then keep in mind the VNC data link is *NOT* encrypted like the
NetMeeting RDS link is, if that matters to you. Some folks run VNC through SSH or VPN tunnels.

Thanks

I've tried both NetMeeting and TightVNC and neither of
them is as fast at updating the screen as radmin or
winconnect. Is there anything else to suggest?

Danijel Tkalcec posted this awhile back. I have not used it, but it may be of interest.
