3Gb switch for Win2K professional

I have added the new option to the boot.ini file to
increase my application memory from default 2GB to 3GB.
The boot.ini file shown as bellow:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft
Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect /3GB

I can't really see any difference in Windows Task Manager
after the change. Is there any parameter to look for to
make sure that the change has taken place?

I have 2GB installed physical memory on the system.

I am not aware of any noticeable changes in the GUI. The switch tells the
system that there is at only 1GB of RAM available to the kernel. The system
then manages that memory in a smarter manner.

If you use Performance monitor, you may be able to see the difference in
page file swapping. Normally you will see this on memory intensive
applications.

The /UserVA: switch can also be used along with the /3GB switch to help you
fine tune how much memory is available to User mode applications
