how do i know if i have 32 or 64 bit?

You have the 32 bit version.



Windows XP Home = 32 bit.

Windows XP Pro = 32 bit.

Windows XP Media Center Edition = 32 bit

Windows XP Tablet PC Edition = 32 bit

Windows XP 64 bit Edition = 64 bit.



Start, run, type in: winver, hit enter.

If you have to ask, you're using 32 bit. Start/run winver, if you are using
64 bit, this will tell you so.

Simple. If you had a 64 bit system. You wouldn't need to ask. You would
