3-D Pie Charts: Can't Ungroup or View on Mac

I'm having some issues with 3-D Pie Charts created from Microsoft
Graph. They look fine on the screen and print fine from the PC file,
but if I try to ungroup them or open the PPT file on a Mac, the pie
charts become ugly 3-D blocks which don't even represent a pie. If I
try to save the pie chart out from the PC, it pops up as Metadata (and
the Mac tells me that it is converting metadata upon opening.) So, I
can save the pie charts out on the PC as PNGs and reimport them. That's
a partial fix because obviously the charts are no longer live and
editable.

Anyone know what's going on or if there's a way around this?

If you remove the gradient fill, do the charts ungroup properly?

(Notice I'm guessing on the gradient fill. Maybe they don't really have a
gradient fill.)

What if you save the piecharts on the PC as EMFs and ungroup that on the
Mac. Any better?
