Tried all the resolutions on the page and still does not work. I still
cannot download updates from "Windows Update" either.

I do not know how to "verify registry values" as suggested in the last
section of "RESOLUTION". How do I do that?

I am running 98SE and IE6.

When I click on a thumbnail the 2nd window will open but nothing happens,
blank screen. When I go to Windows Update and try to download the latest 4
updates the download/install window opens but freezes. I have to
ctrl/alt/delete to get out.

I have run SpyBot, Ad-Aware, CWshredder, and HijackThis. The system appears
clean and I do not know how to read HijackThis. I have enabled and disable
"third party extensions" and "reuse window for launching shortcuts".

One other thing, when I get popup ads they go to the bottom tool bar and
will not open or restore, all I can do is close them. I am not running any
pop up killer software.

Help, any ideas?

Brian

I am having the same trouble. When selecting a link that
uses a script for a pop-up window, nothing happens. The
window just sits there. I have no other choice, but to
close it. Now when a link open a full new window, I can
press the stop button in the new window and then hit the
refresh button and the page will load. Weird! Has any one
responed to you about this. I would like a solution. I'm
getting tired of using Netscape when this problem occurs.
Feel free to email me at (e-mail address removed)

Thanks...

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

3. Click OK, and then click OK again when you receive the following message:

DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded.

4. If that doesn't fix it, see this article:

http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers.htm#new_window

5. If you are using WinXP try this:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_Default_Browser.reg

You can also try this:

Go to Start/run, and type SFC (msconfig for WinXP).
Choose 'Extract One File From Installation Disk' ("Expand File" for WinXP).
Type oleaut32.dll, not worrying about its location. Then, click Start.

Next to 'Restore From', type in or browse for the file's location, which is
probably in the Win98 (i386 for WinXP) folder of your installation CD-ROM
(typically D:\Win98), or in your Windows\Options\Cabs (Windows\i386 for
WinXP) folder, as the case may be.

Then, next to 'Save File In', enter C:\Windows\System (C:\Windows\System32
for WinXP), and click OK. System File Checker (or msconfig) looks for the
file, saves it as you requested, and then tells you that 'the file has been
successfully extracted'.

You may need to reboot.
