Hi All,

We now have a new site and we probly hire like 20-30 people for the
coming year -may expand to 100 people at the location.
They currently access everything through VPN -outlook/file servers
The VPN is on windows 2003 ent/ 1 domain AD 2000 As server.
The file server is on 2000 As as well.

At the new location they were got public IPs. I’m not usre how the
set up is. And i’’m note of the bandwidth either. If they work it
way they have how difficu,t would be for the HQ . How is strain the
bandwidth?

Another senerio is let them have they’s own file server, dns/ad with
child domain like: xy.xyz.com and have they’re own exchange.
In that case would I set up the childdomain first then the exchange
server.

Or is it best to get a vpn router? Right now we are using VPN from
w2k3 server.

Thanks in Advance
Joe

You question is pretty vague (and unfocused). You don't even mention
the raw or available bandwidth, and even say "I'm not sure how the
set up is..." so how can any of use possibly help you with something
you haven't even inventoried or measured yet?
Another senerio is let them have theyâ?Ts own file server, dns/ad with
child domain like: xy.xyz.com and have theyâ?Tre own exchange.

server.

Or you might (probably should but we don't have enough info) just
put a DC from the CURRENT domain in their location -- turn it into
a true AD Site.

How you route, Windows or hardware router, the VPN is more or
less irrelevant.

Your real issues are bandwidth, especially available bandwidth,
pattern of usage (how and what your users do), number of users,
expected performance (promises you make), reliability, cost,
applications, and anything that actually affects your usage and
your users.
