I already operate my PC & LTop with an unsecured wireless network. How do I
set up a second secure network before deleting the original??

That doesn't make any sense as written, unless you're talking about
replacing your existing wireless hardware.

Attach one of your computers directly via Ethernet to your access point (or
your router w/access point) and configure it to use WPA (presuming that it,
and your wireless cards support it). WEP is not as good, but it's better
than nothing. Then configure both computers to access the wireless network
appropriately.
