I downloaded 28 Critical updates but Windows did not install them.
How do I install them now that they are downloaded and where are
they located?
Thanks!

Hello,

The best way to install these updates if via Windows Update.
Try rebooting your system and then going to Windows Update and downloading
the updates.
If you fail again and receive an error message, please post the exact error
message back here.

It took me 3-1/2 hours to download the files via an AOL dial-up and
Windows Update. I am hoping that there is a way to get them
installed without re-downloading?
There was no error message. The window said that download was
complete but the install did not proceed. Is their any other way to
install?

Hi! Lamer!
Have you downloaded from Windows Update site?
Try this:-
At the command prompt (Start/Run/CMD), type the following commands,
pressing ENTER after each line:

net stop cryptsvc
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 oldcatroot2
net start cryptsvc

Yes, I downloaded from the Windows Update site. The download
completed but the updates were not installed - no error message.
There are 28 critical updates, about 38mb, which took 3-1/2 hours to
download. Will give the commands a try - thanks. (Actually my
neighbors PC - please post any other thoughts - it will be tomorrow
before I can give it a try.) Thanks again!

Beware of popup blockers that may block the popup windows that you are
required to click in order to install the updates.
