200gb hard drive

I installed a 200 gb hard drive in my xp machine with a promise controller
card and the card starts with a186gb drive but windows only sees a 111 gb
drive,,,,,ok punt I'm in
 
You need to install WinXP SP1a to get 48bit LBA in WinXP.

If you did and you are running WinXP, why did you ask this in a Win2K News Group when the
answer is OS Specific ?

yes .. I had all the updates before I formattied the drive
it still sees only 111 gb on a 200 gb drive
 
I have 4 200 gb drives...1 in a 2000 machine and one in a xp machine.. the
other 2 are on my desk until I get something to see 200 gb
 
Assuming yr bios recognises the disk size?
Does yr registry have an 'EnableBigLba' entry?
If not add it, as per kb303013
I see you have a Win2K sys, working on that ok?
