2007 - Pasting Excel Data to Table - Error

C

This worked for me in 2002 until I upgraded to 2007. This is what I have
going on:

I have an excel spreadsheet that has a bunch of columns and rows of data.
Before, I would select all the rows of data in excell (lots of columns of
data) and then paste it into a table in my database. I would simply click on
the * next to the first record in the table and paste it. Worked perfectly
every time. Now with 2007, it tries to paste everything in the first field,
no matter how I try to do it. It gives me the error of The data on the
clipboard is damaged so Microsoft Office Access can't paste it.

Curtis,

I've tried to repro this but unfortunately I can paste as many rows as i
like as you would expect it to be. So it seem that either the clipboard is
having issues or the data from excel is having issues.

Create an dummy excel file with some columns with some data in there. Now
try to copy paste this into an access table and see if that works. If that
will work you will know you have some puzzling to do in regards to the
clipboard or your datasource from excel...

Others are having a similar issue using the paste append option in Access
2007 from Excel 2007 (search "Paste Append into Access 2007") . The
workaround right now (in Windows XP anyway), is to uninstall KB958437, which
was updated earlier this week.

That works, I would have never figured it out! With this update, I can't
even create a record in the table, copy it to excel and then recopy the excel
file & paste it back in the table, wont allow it.

HOW does one report this to Microsoft?

I agree this is a mess.

Here's an article I wrote a few weeks ago that offers three
workarounds for this problem. Including options that don't require
removing the security patch. Hope it helps:

Good luck.
