2007 Office w/Comp...need 97 word document downld from email

Help I have 2007 Office...Can't download a '97 Microsoft document from my
e-mail. Compatibility is on, but it is not working it will not download.
My job is dependent on these posts. It's worked every other time, except for
the past few days. Could there be something more serious wrong with my
computer or "hotmail" where I am trying to download from?
 
Word 2007 has nothing to do with 'downloading'. Save the document to the
hard drive and open it from there.
