2007: Error: An error occured while opening the file dialog.

So, I reinstalled Vista beta, and, since I couldn't find my installation file
for Office 2007 B2TR, I decided to just download the Office beta from
Microsoft.com. (I downlaoded the Professional version) All of my other Office
applications appear to be working fine, except for PowerPoint. And, even
then, everything else works fine within PowerPoint: with two notable
exceptions: I can't save anything OR open any document, picture, video, or
sound. When I do, I receive the following error:
An error occurred while opening the file dialog. Please save your
presentations (which I can't do), exit, and then restart PowerPoint.
I've tried everything I can think of to get rid of this: reinstalling
PowerPoint, downloading the trial again, restarting my computer...but to no
avail.
Is there anyone out there who can help?

You might try opening PPT and then hitting the Office file button, then PPT
Options, then go to Resources and run the diagnostics. That might repair
things.

Otherwise, if you had the Office beta on this machine where you're now
running the trial, well...that could be a problem. Unless, of course, by
"reinstalled Vista beta," you really mean you reformatted the drive and
installed the release version of Vista.
