Tried to download 2007 beta after an unsuccessful attempt, now outlook 2003
will not open. Error message MAPI32.dll file is corrupt or wrong version.
Will not reinstall from disk or with new user profile

My son started to down load the 2007 beta edition on the day of its release.
I believe the requests were overwelming and the download stopped. Will
another attempt at bet2007 give me access to my saved email messages?

I installed the beta yesterday using the upgrade mode over Outlook 2003.
Although no other applicatons or programs were running (except NAV) I was
prompted several times that some programs should be closed but there were no
programs named in the box. Clicking on RETRY did not result in a solution.
Clicking on IGNORE allowed the install to continue but neither Outlook 2003
or 2007 will open. When trying to open 2007 in save mode a small box comes
up with OLMAP132.dll and an OK option. Several times I went into the Search
and Repair mode and got the message that Office 2007 was configured properly
but still the same results. It seems that this OLMAP132.dll is not
compatible with 2003 and 2007 or I corupted it by clicking on IGNORE during
the install.

You should have done what you were told. Those messages to close other
programs were for a reason, not just for fun. You had programs running that
were keeping some portion of Outlook 2003 open. You should never run any
antivirus when installing software, especially NAV and most emphatically not
if you use email scanning.
Installing as an upgrade has not been tested, especially in a non-test
environment like yours. Your installation most likely cannot be repaired.
Uninstall Office 2007. Uninstall Office 2003 and hope you can reinstall it.
Do not install Office 2007 until you have a suitable test environment and
have read the beta software cautions thoroughly.

Thanks for the tip. I thought you might want to know that the message to
close applicatons did not list any. I should have guessed that it was
Norton. Others may try to do this with the non-beta product.

Hopefully, the upgrade procedure will be refined and more thoroughly tested
by that time.
Office 2007 does come with fairly extensive diagnostic procedures. As long
as you're testing, you might want to try those out before you back out
completely.

I am in a test environment, Tom. No rush. I will try some things before I
throw in the towel. Thanks for your help.
