I have a PST file created in Outlook 2003 and I am trying to open it on
another computer that only has Outlook 2000 on it...how do I make this
existing PST file compatible with my older version of Outlook?

Hello Blue Bunny,
It depends upon the method you are using to open the pst file.
If you are trying to open the pst file from the other computer, you should
be either on the interanet connectivity or copy the file to your computer.
Outlook>File>outlook data file>choose the outlook data by accessing the other computer or by copying the pst file to your computer.

Usually you should be able to access the pst which is created in "personal
folder file- 98-2002 format"
If the pst file is created in OST format (Exchange server) you may not be
able to access as per permissions set to do so.

A bit off the mark here. It has nothing to do with the "method" used to open
the file. How many "methods" could there be? There's only one.
PST files created in Outlook 2003 are not compatible with earlier versions
unless you expressly created them in the old "Outlook 97-2002" format.

As Russ said, the Outlook 2003 pst file may not be compatible with Outlook
2000. Let's just assume the 2003 pst was *not* created as a 2000-compatible
file. I suggest going back to the Outlook 2003 PC, create a new pst (and
make sure it is the format that is compatible with Outlook 2000). Copy
whatever data you need into the newly created Outlook 2000-compatible pst
file. Close Outlook. Then copy the Outlook 2000-compatible pst file to the
PC with Outlook 2000. You should now be able to open it.
