2003 outlook only open in safe mode

microsoft Office--student and teacher edition 2003--every thing works fine
exceipt outlook. it demands me to indicate that it is my default every time
it opens ,and only in the safe mode, it is so inconsistant,sometimes it won't
open. i have uninstalled and installed severl times. Please help
