2000 server vpn behind a Nat'd Dlink 504

Hi,
Trying to get someone to set this up (don't have access myself which makes
it hard!) and when I connect, I just get a timeout on verifying username and
password.
I'm wondering if, looking at the manual for the 504, the router is
forwarding TCP port 47 rather than protocol 47 (I believe there is a
difference)... is this likely and if so, can it be got around?
Thanks
James

Yes, there is a difference between TCP port 47 and IP Protocol 47. IP
Protocol 47 is GRE and GRE is necessary for PPTP connections to work. If the
router is not allowing GRE to pass you won't be able to connect.

Some routers call GRE - "PPTP pass through"

make sure that you have TCP 1723 forwarding and UDP 500
forwarding. Also verify that VPN passthrough is enabled.
