2000 machine keeps rebooting itself.

Please help!
I just upgraded a 98 to 2000 and now it is rebooting
itself over and over again. I made sure the ram was
correct, and there was enough of it for 2000.
The computer is a micron pc, 500 mhz with 384 mb of ram
and 10 gigs of space. When I go into the error log, since
I can boot into safe mode and safe mode with networking,
it says:
event id: 1000
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck
was: 0___ .
Microsoft windows 2000 [v15.2195] A full dump was not
saved.
When i look this up on the internet, people's suggestions
are to make sure the ram is correct and a sufficient
amount of it, and check the antivirus software. Now I
cannot remove symantic corporate edition (says something
about windows installer yadda yadda, check
registration..in other words, its not working) nor the
norton antivirus software (grayed out) from add/remove
software.
When i look up the windows installer error, I followed
peoples suggestions to the tee, make sure sufficient
rights etc. Nothing.
Anyones help would be fully appreciated since the worker
is coming back from vacation on Wed, and I am taking off
tomorrow.

Thanks.

Just a suggestion: Do a clean install of 2K

Doing an upgrade is never a good thing, especially from 98 to 2k....It's
like going from a bicycle to the space shuttle, especially when there is
existing software. And Norton's is the worst with upgrades because every
install clean of Nortons is specific to the OS it is installing to. Some
features are available in 98 that are not in 2k.

Good Luck!

Hey, a fellow New Yawka! :0)

Actually in my perspective the damage is done. :0(

Few years ago I ran the compatibility wizard with 2K on 98 & it gave me
waaaaay to many items with possible trouble so I skipped the upgrade.
Later I did a test & it trashed my 98, software did not work right ever
since.....I tried to repair that 98 back than to no avail.
I'm not sure if you used an upgrade disk of 2K or full 2k but maybe
there is an option for un-install, I'm not sure. I wish I had an answer
for ya, maybe others can suggest a fix, but I think the whole will agree
that upgrading is not a good idea......

Sorry :0(
