Hi,
I have 1 xp pro desktop and 1 xp home laptop.
I brought a Tomson speedtouch 510 router with built in hardware firewall and
built in adsl broadband modem.
The reason behind this was to allow internet connection, without having to
have both pc's powered up. Also to allow a shared internet connection when
using both pcs and to share files between the pcs though a workgroup.
The problem arises when I try to set up a windows network. The network
wizard tells me that it can not share files securely with a shared internet
connection. It then promptly sets the laptop firewall to on, removes every
network installed and asks me to reboot.
After rebooting, the laptop can not access the internet or the workgroup.
Only a full system restore, from the restore cd's will bring it back, to
allow normal internet access.
Is it xp being stupid or me?
And yes, I do want my cake and to be able to eat it! lol
