1. Does PowerPoint 2003 not have a slide, or outline view? If so, where
can I find them. I have PowerPoint 2000 on my laptop, and 2003 on my
desktop. It see it on 2000, but not 2003.

2. When creating a slide with an animated text box (I have it set up to
appear by letter), I can't get the typewriter sound to play when I set it up
for 1 sec. delay between letters in 2003. It works fine in 2000. The only
way I hear the sound is when I set the delay to 0. What is the deal????

TIA,

Chris

1. Those icons went away with PowerPoint 2000 with the introduction of Task
Panes. If you have View > Task Pane turned on, click on View Normal, just
in case you've closed one of the panes, and you'll see the outline on the
left where you can toggle between Outline and thumbnails of the slides.
The center pane is the slide view and the right pane is used for function
specific settings, etc.

2. It works here.

2, Are you setting the right parameter? In the Custom Animation task pane,
right click on your text object (Shape 1 or whatever) and select Effects
Options. Under the Effect tab, sound should be Typewriter, After animation
should be "Don't Dim", Animate text should be "By Letter", and there should
be a 1 second delay set between letters.

That's exactly how I have it set up. As I said earlier, it makes a quick
sound if I set no delay between letters, but no sound with any other time
settings.

Then there are a number of things you can try to pin it down. Try a
different sound. Try a new presentation with just one slide and one line of
text. I have no idea what the problem is.

Hi Chris,

Was the presentation origianlly created in PPT 2000? I
had some similiar issues with a presentation that was
created in 2000, then opened in 2003. Someone from
Microsoft is looking at it.

Try creating a new presentation in 2003 and set up the
same effect and see if it works.

HTH,
Glenna

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

Although they not part of the default interface for PowerPoint 2003, the
"Slide" and "Outline" views are still available and the tool buttons for
accessing the views can be added to any of your command bars or menus.

1) Tools -> Customize
2) In the "Commands" tab choose the "View" category
3) Select the "Slide" or "Outline" command and drag it to the command bar
or menu that you want to add it to.
4) Click "Close"
