2 Questions from Newbie to Outlook

Deon H

Hi there,
this is my 1st post to this group - I have, just as many others, just
moved from OE to MS Outlook.

After playing around a bit and importing my messages from OE, I noticed
two things:

1. When I send new messages, auto-complete for peaople in my Address
book doesn't work or Outlook doesn't have it. In OE, when I begin to
type Sa , all my contacts starting with Sa appears. How can I nurn this
on in Outlook.

2. How can I view JPG images directly in my received mail - after
someone has sent me some pics. Now I have to 2x click on it to open up
in Win XP image viewer.

Thanx for your help and patience.

Regards,
Deon H

Assuming you are using Outlook 2002:
1. Autocomplete uses a cache that is only populated by the names you type in
and the messages you send. Since you have done neither, it has no data yet.
Be patient.
2. Outlook does not do inline viewing of attachments.

For future reference, posting your Outlook version is a good idea. There are
7. Each differs greatly form the others.

Thanx for the prompt reply, Russ.
Outlook 2000.

It's a pitty that the autocomplete works only by means of cache. I'll
try to be patient.

Thanx again,

Then you're going to have to be patient a long time. Now you see why you
will not get an accurate answer when you don't post your version.
Outlook 2000 does not have an autocomplete feature. Only Outlook 2002 and
2003 do.

Outlook 2000 has a feature called auto-resolution. If you enter part of a
name or a nickname then tab out of the field (or hit Alt-K [Check Names]),
Outlook will attempt to resolve the name against your address book. If it
can't, it'll red underline it and you can right click on the name to
manually resolve it. Outlook will save that resolution for future use.
