2 questions for Powerpoint (Microsoft XP)

Hi all,

I'm facing two challenges in a Powerpoint XP presentation I'm creating.

1, how do I add a piece of video and have it play when its slide hits? This
is for an automated presentation.

2, I have a slide with a bunch of animations, how do I get the music to
start at the top of the slide and still have all the animations I created
run? I have about 20 animations and the music all on one slide.

Please let me know if either of these questions are unclear and I can be
more specific.

Thanks!

OK I got the music to play along all slides. I still have the video issue.

Thanks,

When you insert the video, choose "play automatically" when prompted. You
can set this up manually, but just choosing when you insert it is really the
easiest.

Hmm... I didn't see that as an option... I used the "Insert Movie Clip"
option... Is that the best way to do this?

Insert > movies and sounds > movie from file is probably the best way but you
should see Echo's option both ways.

Did that answer the question / help?

I'm not familar with "Insert Movie Clip." Do you mean Insert|Object? If so,
then you may not be prompted. Use Insert|Movie|Movie from File to get the
prompt.

If you are using Insert|Object, we can probably still set up the animation
settings to open the object automatically, but I'd have to experiment to
make sure it works the way I think it should. Basically, you'd select the
object on the slide and in the custom animation task pane, choose Add
Effect|Object Actions. See what actions you have available. Then make sure
the start (in the task pane) is set to "with previous" -- or "after
previous," if the video object is the first thing in the animation list on
the slide.

I'm sorry, I meant that I used Insert|Movie|Movie from File... How do I get
it to automatically play? It will be the first slide.

Well, when you use Insert|Movie|Movie from File, you should get a dialog box
that pops up and says, "Do you want the movie to play automatically or when
clicked? Choose Automatically.

To do this manually, right-click the movie and choose Custom Animation to
open the animation task pane. Click Add Effect and choose Movie
Actions|Play. The "play" will then show up in the animation task pane, by
default set to start "on click." Click the dropdown next to "on click" and
change it to "automatically."

Make that "change it to 'with previous.'"
