2 problems may be related

i have 2 problems

1) when i press crtl alt + del the task manager box comes
up and i am no longer able to select my processes tab as
the top p[art of the box has disappeared.

2) when i try to open up any antivirus it shuts down
after 10 secs

Put your pointer on the frame and double click

Go into Task Manager and double click the grey border at the top. This will
bring up your tabs.

Whatever virus scanner you are using, it clearly needs configuring. It may
also be the victim of a virus itself. Go to www.symantec.com and have them
do a scan for you. It's free.
