What are the inplications of having two nics in one server with 2 different
ip addresses on the same subnet192.168.1.1(24) 192.168.1.2(24). Both are
registered in DNS.

Sometimes it means nothing happens,...sometimes it means things
break,....sometimes it means things just get weird.

You should put both IP#s on the same NIC. Use different physical Nics when
working with different subnets. I don't know if that is a concrete rule or
not, but it is what I always recommend and stand by it.

You should be getting a netbios name collision, unless you are using NIC
teaming software.

I think that you will get a warning(?) about that you have two machines with
the same name (computer name) on the network.
