Hi

I'm trying to get ICS working. I've a router at ip address 192.168.1.1.

If I set my ICS host to be 192.168.1.2 I can see and configure the router.
If I set my host to be 192.168.0.1 --- I can't see the router.

When I establish ICS, 192.168.0.1 is automatically assigned to my host. Do I
have to use this address to get ICS working? If so, can anyone suggest a way
forward.

Also ... do I need netbeui for ICS or is TCPIP sufficient?

Thanks

Simon

Hi

Do you mean you have a hardware router in addition to ICS? If you do then
you don't need ICS as it provides routing facilities.

ICS setup will change the IP address of the LAN connected NIC to
192.168.0.1, it can be changed but it's more trouble than it's worth.

What exactly are you trying to do and what is your configuration?

Is the internet connection to the computer or to the router? Is it ADSL?

My setup is a win2k machine conected to the Internet via DSL and I'm using
ICS.
My router (A linksys wireless-b broadband router (no firewall included) is
connected on a wire to the Win2K machine.
I've 2 other PCs on wireless lan connections.
My DSL modem is a USB connection and so won't plug into my router but only
my Win2K machine so I figured this was the only configuration I could use to
get DSL connection sharing with my 2 other PCs.
I've the freebie Kerio (v4) firewall on my Win2k pro machine.
ICS setup will change the IP address of the LAN connected NIC to
192.168.0.1, it can be changed but it's more trouble than it's worth.

I'd been advised to change the defaults for added security but didn't know
if I could for the ICS port?

Thanks
