2 MBs and still no boot

My son boufght a MB/CPU combo from Ebay (I know) It's the ECS 848P-A and the
P4 2.4 Prescott 553 bus CPU. Put it alll together..no post just fans and HD
power up. He thought it was MB because ECS has a hx of bad MBs. He then
bought a Asrock P4V88 This time just a quick spin of the fan (less than a
sec) then nothing. I thought it to be classic PS problem. Well he brought it
to me and I have changed PS...changed and tested ram....change ane tested
video...all with the same results. The only thing I cannot test is the cpu.
Ive even had the boards out of the case and powered up but still the same
result...nothing. Any thoughts...CPU? Without secondary parts it'e hard to
test all these things. Thanks

Do you have all the power leads to the board connected, like the 12v 4pin
and at least a 350-400 watt psu?

It sounds like classic CPU. You might try pulling battery and jumping bios
to reset and let if find cpu.....but I would bet bad cpu.

If you want to check the startup problem is cpu related then take it out
and turn on the computer to see if all fans spin up.

All the powerleads are hooked up. Both PS were 420 watts

One board will spin up w/o the cpu....the other will not...
