The problem is that when I recently did a fresh reinstall
of Windows xp home it took some disk space out the main
C: drive and made the disk space into a D: drive which in
turn became the place for the core windows files. I don't
want the D: drive to have the core windows files I only
want one drive to have it...which is the C: drive. How do
I fix this problem?

Reinstall the operating system. If you can afford to lose whatever is stored on
the drives (data files), then proceed. Otherwise, back them up first.

Select your boot order to make the CD-ROM first, and boot to the CD-ROM. During
text mode of the setup where you tell it where to install, delete all
partitions, and create a new one and have it use the maximum amount of space for
that drive and format it with NTFS (Quick). Then that should take care of it.

Hi,
How do I fix this problem?

By starting over. You can't relabel the system partition, you would have to
start over and reinstall to C:\.

Questions:

Why did you reinstall in the first place?
Why did you not just repair the existing installation?
Does the original installation still exist?

Would be interesting to see what Drive Mapper from PQ
would do. Dont even know if it works on Registry.

I used it when data partition went from E to F - did a
decent job but did not catch all. Could have been
'operator error' :)

Comments/suggestions/corrections appreciated.
Thanks- bye- Larry

Any advice given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it
may only apply NUGS. Personal attacks, nitpicking & criticism
