?? I have spread sheet that each time I open it show me 2 copies of the
exact same file when I go to Window... as anyone else experienced this?

note: I use windows XP and excel 2003 from Office Pro 2003.

Thx James

Another user may have set this up by clicking >Window >New Window,
then setting it up to display both at once. If this is the case one
window will say Filename.xls:1 and the other Filename.xls:2.

This is a useful tool because you can show different tabs on screen at
the same time. Any change made to one window will appear in the
"other" spreadsheet, so no data will be lost.

To revert back to a single instance of the file, click the X button on
the :2 file, and save. The next time you open the file, only one
instance will appear.

Just a variation of Dave O's reply.

If you see :2 or :1 in the title bar (Like: Book1.xls:2), then you have two
windows into the same workbook open.

You can also select the window you want to close and hit ctrl-w to close that
window. Then save the workbook (or you'll be doing it again next time).
