2 copies of xp on same drive-part 2

Apparently that might not be the problem. Here is what I was trying to do-I
wanted to basically format my hard drive and start fresh. I thought that I
had done that until when the new install booted into windows, all of my old
programs and files were still there (I'm trying to eradicate a virus). Also,
my master hard drive reads that 15 GB is currently being used, and I know
that windows does not take up that much file space and all of my MP3's, docs,
etc are on the slave. If anyone would like to help I would appreciate it.

1) Go into BIOS and set boot order so that CD drive is first in chain of
boot devices. Make sure you save your changes before quitting BIOS setup
program.
2) Place XP install CD in drive and turn machine off, then back on. (XP CD
is bootable)
3) After POST you will see a message to "press any key to boot from CD..."
4) Within 5 seconds, press a key. If Windows starts and the XP Graphical
setup program begins, exit XP setup program and reboot your machine (with XP
install CD still in the drive) and repeat "4" Do this until XP "DOS-like"
installation starts (text instead of graphics).
5) You will be given the choice to partition and format HD. Delete all
partitions in the list.
6) Create a partition of at least 10 gig, then format it.
7) Install XP to the newly-created partition.

If you go and look at this site you will find details on a new XP
installation.
During this new installation pick the option to format the drive,this will
get rid of both copies of XP and then install a new copy.Then you will need
to reconfigure XP to suit your purposes as well as download all updates.
