I downloaded the latest NDivia graphics driver and before
you could say "crash" my screen went blank and a sign came
up on that said "Attention: Out of Range - 75Hz" (or
something like that). That's it - the computer ceased to
function. The display manual was no help.
I tried just about everything conceivable to fix the
problem (and yes, I know why it happened) but to no avail.
So I stuck the Recover WinXP CD into the drive and
rebooted. And that's when a second version of WinXP was
installed onto the computer. This is called Windows.0
I eventually fixed the problem with the display but now
whenever I turn on the computer, I get the option of
loading:
Windows XP Home Edition
Windows XP Home Edition
The default, of course, is the new one that I don't want.
Some of my programs have been affected (Antivirus, Zone
alarm) but basically the second OS is just an annoyance
(and it takes up ~1GB of disk space).
Anyone have any ideas about how I can get rid of it? I
tried renaming the Windows.0 directory (no good). And
there's no option to uninstall it from the Control Panel.
All help is greatly appreciated!
