I have 2 New Dells that are conencted with a crossover cable. I am having
trouble getting the two to see each other. The both on on the same workgroup
with unique names. XP pro cannot see the XP home and the XP home does not
have permission. What am I missing, need to do?

1. Make identical user accounts and passwords on each box.
2. Make sure the firewalls are properly configured to allow lan traffic.
Service Pack 2 automatically enables the Windows Firewall. If you are
not running a third-party firewall, go to the Windows Firewall applet
in Control Panel and enable File & Printer Sharing on the Exceptions
tab. If you are using a third-party firewall (and have properly
configured it to allow your lan traffic as Trusted), then turn the
Windows Firewall off. You don't want two firewalls running, and a
third-party program will be better than the WF. All firewalls must be
properly configured to allow lan traffic as Trusted.
3. Make sure you've shared out desired resources.

Hello All,

Sorry for my 2 threads in a row. The computer I was using crashed right as
I hit submit and I did not think it went thru, so I re-did it.
Thanks for the help. I will try to keep it contained to only question next
time.
