Problem Networking Xp Pro & XP Home

I have 2 computers I am attempting to Network:

#1 wireless XP Pro
#2 wired XP Home

into a workgroup I have called marknet.

The XP Home machine can access files on the XP Pro. But the XP Pro machine
can not access anything on the XP Home machine.

When I try to add a network place on XP Pro, I get the following error:

"Marknet is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
netowrk resource. Contact the administrator of tihs server to find out if you
have access permissions. The network path was not found"

Also note that both firewalls are temporarily turned off when I try this


Any assistance would be appreciated

(I heard rumors that XP Pro & Home are notorious for having network problems
and there might be a patch I could download somewhere?)

On XP home:

Did you make sure to check the box: “Share this folder on the network†&
“Allow network users to change my filesâ€

Networking XP Home and Pro together presents challenges, but when you understand
the challenges, you can deal with them.

Your problem, though, is name resolution ("... network path was not found").

What firewall is "turned off"? Many personal firewalls don't react properly
when "turned off". And make sure that you haven't overlooked a firewall or
other security component.

And make sure that NetBT is Enabled on both computers.

And we can look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and
"net config workstation", from each computer, and maybe diagnose the problem.
