try reburning the ISO at a low speed, 2x recommended, also do a CRC check on
the ISO to find out its integrity. Nero MD5 Verifier is a recommended
choice. If setup still fails, its likely a bad download.

I use the one from Ahead Nero
http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Nero_MD5_Verifier.html

Here are the MD5/CRC values for x86 or x64 depending on which every ISO you
downloaded:

x86
- File Size = 3.12 GB (3,355,598,848 bytes)
- CRC Value = 0x67E089E0
- MD5 Value = 0E733AB1A8E8FF9A8684FD3639332773
x64
- File Size = 4.01 GB (4,309,368,832 bytes)
- CRC Value = 0x48697711
- MD5 Value = E43502D0A15EADD551119D5639859E04

Paste the MD5 Checksum for either x64 or x86 depending on which one you want
check in Step 1, Step 2 - Browse to where you stored the ISO on your drive
and open it and it will automatically start the varification process and
generate the has in the third field, if it matches Step 1, then you are
safe.

Thanks for your help!
I:
1- verified the ISO with the Nero verifier
2- mounted the ISO as a drive and ran the install from there -not fixed
3- burned a 2x dvd- not fixed

other suggestions?

same problem with me, just realized that Vista setup doesn't include the
drivers for my SATA hard disc drive and so basically it is trying to boot off
of a program installed on a disc that it has no driver to understand, i
believe. I'm currently searching for the fix, I found the driver on HP.com
but I'm not sure where and when to use it.

My System:
HP dv8230us
Windows XP Media Center
Intel Duo Core T2300E 1.66GHz Dual Core
1GB RAM
2x 80GB SATA HDD
Nvidia 7400 Grapics Card

wow, you are right, I never suspected that because the SATA driver includes
so many systems right now..... I started install from the xp desktop, loaded
the Intel Sata Driver (ICH7 AHCI) and bam... done....

so.... VISTA BETA 2 DOES NOT SUPPORT INSTALL FROM INTEL SATA CONTROLLERS
(at a minimum the ICH7 running in AHCI non-raid mode) AND YOU HAVE TO LOAD
THE DRIVER AT THE BEGINNING OF INSTALL

Piratetommy... if you start from XP desktop... when you choose the install
partition there is a button to load drivers... they have to be on a CD or
floppy...then it'll work....I don't know how to add them on a straight DVD
install boot.

Oh. My. God. I am having the exact same problem except Vistax64 doesn't find
the file on my Floppy disk.

I have a 945GTP with ICH7GH/GR running in AHCI mode.

I'll try burning the files to a CD to eliminate the possibility of a
defective FDD.

Could you give me more specific information on the drivers you used
successfully? If this CD thing fails then I'll check the version I'm using
against the one you are.

Thanks So Much!

I installed x86, so I don't know if the Intel driver install will work on
x64, I'm planning to try out x64 today... if that happens I'll update this
post. Intel doesn't post Vista drivers yet so I used the XP stuff.
Additionally, they only provide either a 1) F6 floppy maker that in
non-extractable (not very useful if you don't have a floppy) and 2) a
fullinstaller for Matrix storage manager, which has cab's but I can't extract
the driver.....so.....

My procedure was: download XP 32 F6 floppy maker, make floppy, copy to CD,
install Vista x86 from XP desktop to second partition. I used 5.5.0.1035
