"16 bit Windows Subsystem" error message

M

Mike Velan

I downloaded and saved to my Desktop a free demo version
of some software and it gave me the following window
error message when I tried to initiate setup:

16 bit Windows Subsystem
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and
Microsoft Windows applications.

I was hoping you might recognize or be able to diagnose
this problem for me? I have Windows XP Professional
Version 5.1 if that helps any.

Sicerely,
Mike

Copy autoexec.NT from C:\Windows\Repair folder to C:\Windows\System32 (as per MVP Alex Nichol's advice). Also, clean the trojan which is deleting this file from the system.
