16-bit MS-Dos subsytem

I am trying to install some new software and keep getting an errror message
"C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running
MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose Cose to terminate the
application."

I have followed the instructions found in kb search but still get error
message.

Anybody got any ideas?
