Forgive my ignorance here regarding this. I have a relatively new PC and find that the 1394 net adapter nearly always (it's worked once as far as I know) displays a yellow exclamation mark and error 10 (cannot start device). I've tried uninstalling the driver and rebooting, starting in safe mode - but then it doesn't then show up in the manager. Everything else looks OK in device manager in Safe mode. I'm at a loss what to do. Due to other reasons I have installed XP four times and noticed this on more than one ocassion so don't think I want to reinstall. I'm reluctant to do a repair install without simple instruction as each time I've tried to boot from the CD has resulted in it's own tragic story (multiple vesions of XP etc. etc) - I'm assuming a repair install requires booting from the CD of course

Thanks for any help with this
Andy

Do you intend to use the computer's 1394 (FireWire) adapter for
networking? If not, then you can just ignore the problem.

Have you tried un-installing the 1394 adapter (not just its driver) in
Device Manager and letting XP re-install the adapter?
