Does the 137 GB limit apply to the overall disk size, or to each partition?
In other words, if I partition a 160 GB drive into four logical drives do I
have to deal with the 137 GB limit? Thanks for any help.

It refers to a single partition. The easiest way around the problem is to do
what you propose to do in your post, i.e., divide the drive into 4 or more
separate partitions. You should remember that you can only have a maximum of
4 primary partitions but you can have more logical partitions. You could,
for instance go 20gb for primary partition 1, 2, and 3 and 100GB logical
partition for 4. This would then allow you to subdivide the 100GB logical
partition into more smaller partitions. That's if you need them, of course.
If not stick with 4 primary partitions.

Cooter,

FYI: Windows XP will recognize hard drives in excess of 2 Terabytes if
formatted
NTFS and up to 4GB of RAM. Your motherboard is the limiting factor as to
how
large a drive and the amount of RAM you can actually use with Windows XP.

Yes, you can partition the drive; however, you may want to look at the
following web site for some details about increasing the partition size
recognized by Windows XP:

I tried to follow the link but the message apparently is no longer
available.
TIA,
