It's because people are accessing from the web based newsgroups and they
don't have a clue about how to use the newsgroups. The web based format for
newsgroups as MS provides in it's reference from the XP Help and Support
Console is a total failure as it is so painfully illustrated as a failure in
the last few days of posts on the RPC worm and 32/64 bit queries.
If you notice, probably 90%+ of the posts are from the CDO web based format.
The people that are experiencing the RPC worm for the most part are the
inexperienced casual user. They also could likely have turned off automatic
updating after the last update fiasco and are reluctant to install the
latest CRITICAL UPDATE. The user must absorb some of the blame, but the real
question is why was there a problem in the first place? I believe all this
could have been avoided, and MS has admitted that they are partially to
blame.
