100% CPU Usage in Windows 2000, System Process

I have an IBM ThinkPad PIII running Windows 2000
Professional. A couple of days ago it turned extremely
slow. I opened the Task Manager and it shows a 100% CPU
Usage, mostly (99%) by the System process.



Not sure what to do . if anyone has seen this or can tell
me what i need to do would be great .

Did you install the Windows Update KB835732
Just a shot in the dark but I'd remove it and see if it helps...
