HELP PLEASE!

I HAVE A NETWORK THAT HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR OVER A YEAR BUT WITHIN THE LAST 2
WEEKS 1 TERMINAL THAT HAS LOST ALL ITS MAPPED INFORMATION.

BELOW IS THE DIAGRAM OF THE NETWORK AND ITS SHARES AND MAPPINGS.

N/C 192.168.1
| PC1 ---\ .30
| |----- HUB ---\
\ PC2 ---/ .40 |
\ |

\ --- PC3 ---\ .91 |

.100 /--- PC4 ---+ .100
CABLE | |
.101 --- +--- PC5 ---/ .101
MODEM |
|
.102 \ --- PC6

PC 3, 4 AND 5 HAVE 2 NIC CARDS
PC 1 AND 2 ARE WIN 98SE
PC3 IS WIN 2000 PRO SP4
PC 4, 5 AND 6 ARE XP HOME SP2

(WORKGROUP) POS

DATABASE IS ON PC3

PC 1, 2, 4 AND 5 HAVE MAPPED DRIVES TO PC 3s DATABASE.

PC3 HAS MAPPED DRIVES TO PC 1, 2 AND 5

PC5 HAS SHARED PRINTER WITH PC3 AND PC6

PC4 HAS SHARED PRINTER WITH PC6 - BUT DOES NOT SEE ANY OTHER PRINTERS

PC 4, 5 AND 6 ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET VIA 5 PORT CABLE MODEM.

Within the last 2 weeks I have started having network connection problems at
my customers’ site. PC4 has lost its mapped connections and will not allow
them to be re-established.

PC3 lists:
From network connections: POS group PC1 PC2 PC3 PC4 PC5 ALL CONNECTED
PcAnywhere lists HOSTS: PC1 PC2 PC4 and PC5
Explorer Mapping Browsing POS: PC1 PC2 PC3 PC4 PC5 ALLOW CONNECT

PC4 lists:
From network connections: POS group PC4 PC5 PC6 ALL CONNECTED
PcAnywhere lists HOSTS: PC1 PC2 PC3 and PC5
Explorer My Network lists: PC4 PC5 SHARED FOLDERS
Explorer Mapped Browsing lists: PC4 PC5 – ALLOWING CONNECTIONS
Shared Printers: PC6

PC5 lists:
From network connections: POS group PC1 PC2 PC3 PC4 PC5 PC6 - NO CONNECT
PcAnywhere lists HOSTS: PC1 PC2 PC3 and PC4
Explorer My Network lists: PC4 SHARED FOLDERS ONLY
Explorer Mapped Browsing lists: PC1 PC2 PC3 PC4 PC5 – NO
CONNECT
Shared Printers: PC3 PC6
PC5 Lost all connections to drives and
printers on PC 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 but it is still connected to PC6 printer.

PC6 does not have PcAnywhere installed on it yet.

I can connect via the internet and PcAnywhere to PC 4 or 5 and then I can
start a local PcAnywhere session to connect to and control PC3.

PC3s mapped drives to PC 1, 2 and 5 are connected and functioning. When I
browse connections I can browse into PC 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. I can pass data
and manipulate files fine. Browsing does not show PC6.

PC5s all mapped drives to PC 1, 2 and 3 and shared printer on PC3 stopped
working but the shared connection to PC6s printer still works, and PcAnywhere
connects to hosts on PC 1, 2, 3 and 4.

I have:
Reseated the NIC cards in PC 3 and PC 5.
Rebooted units.
Ran Repair connection on XP unit.
Checked protocols. TCP/IP and NETBIOS
PC3 no firewall.
PC4 Norton 2005 firewall.
PC5 McAfee firewall.
PC6 Windows XP firewall
Only the internet connected PC's are firewall protected. All 6 PC's have
antivirus, spyware and adware programs installed. Only the internet
connected PC's have updated virus, spy and adware files.

If this is a XP Home problem why did the setup work for over a year? Did a
recent update from Microsoft kill my network? I have auto update activated.
If it is a HOME problem did not SP 2 fix HOME networking problems?
If I need to upgrade to XP Pro (besides having to purchase updates) how do I
do this? I have a laptop that had Home with SP 2 on it and I won a copy of
Pro at the Microsoft Big Day event. When I went to upgrade, the installer
said that I could not upgrade, due to the version installed on the unit being
newer that the version I was trying to install. I had to backup my data and
wipe the unit, then install XP Pro and re-install all my apps. (What a pain.)

Any help will be appreciated.
