I notice today that i had a lot of Window Defender Checkpoint like 5 of them
on system restore list. I Immidiately started to look on how this thing
happend So i did and notice that when i change my IE Homepage it
automatically creates a Window Defender Checkpoint on system restore after
that it will no longer create a Window Defender checkpoint when you change
the IE Homepage again but if you restart your computer again and change IE
homepage it will create another Window Defender checkpoint. I did this over
and over and had the a whole bunch of Window Defender Check Point on system
restore.

Can anyone around here check wether this is a New features on the New
version of Window Defender 1.1.1347.0 or just simply a error, bug?

here's how to do it: restart computer first, change IE homepage, check
system restore to see window Defender checkpoint, then restart computer and
do the same thing again. check if you have a lot of Window Defender
checkpoint.

my setting for Window Defender is the default mode.
basic memberships
realt-time protection is on
Choose if Windows Defender should notify you about: both option is uncheck

I'm not sure what to call this, so for the time being, I'm going to call it
a "feature."
Steve Dodson has posted a workaround to eliminate the behavior, and I have
taken the liberty of expanding on his somewhat terse treatment:

It is possible to stop this activity, but it takes some care and registry
editing.

Never mind it seem to just create a restore point each time i turning on the
computer but it takes a while.

Will reinstalling Window Defender fix this problem?does the registry disable
only the window Defender checkpoint and not the XP system restore right. I
don't like to disable System restore as i find it usefull when something goes
wrong.

This registry change only affects restore points created by Windows
Defender--I've run with it on myself, even though I don't see the issue
others are seeing.

I absolutely agree--System Restore is and important backup mechanism in
Windows--don't turn it off.

So--if you find the number of created restore points excessive--try this
out--it's easily reversable--just change the value to zero instead of 1.

In addition to what Bill mentioned

My computer, right click , Properties, Disk-Maintenance, Run, Other Options,
check delete old restore points (the last recent checkpoint remªins).
