0x80240016 WD error?

Hi to everyone!

I am trying to update my definition files in WD beta 2, but everytime I get
a 0x80240016 saying Defender can't find command. I am using a validated
Windows Xp SP2 Home Edition (Spanish Edition) and I didn't have any problems
with AntiSpyware. So any help will be grateful. And by the way, the program
seems simpler than thre previous version, but the icon...perhaps more colors
or a much moder design will be more likely. Anyway, continue the effort!

Thanks a lot Mr. Da Costa. That did the trick. However, I what's the correct
method to update WD, through Windows Update (now Microsoft Update) or by the
"Check for Updates" bottom on WD? Thanks again.

Both should work, but they use different mechanisms:

Help, About, Check for Updates as well as the automatic check for updates
before running a scheduled scan, within Windows Defender--use AutoUpdate.
This goes directly to Microsoft in a home or networked environment that does
not have restrictions in place on updates.

In a managed network where updates are planned and approved by
administrators, autoudate goes to a SUS or WSUS server. Windows Defender
updates are not available via SUS--which has an end-of-life of December
2006. They can be made available via WSUS--but the administrator must
approve two items to do this:;

- Products: Windows Defender
- Classifications: Definition Updates.

Most People are getting this error, which i am guessing the are doing
Computer General Updates and The are alsoing searching for WD latest updates
at the same time. I am not sure at MS part on this but the might restrict one
connection per update per machine. I was doing updates on 13 computer at work
and each computer downloads update then i was able to update WD.

Please note this is not fact but could be it.
Thanks,
Take care,
