00026668.exe and engsengine.dll

Doug McKean

Have recently been getting an error message at startup that 00026668.exe
cannot start because windows cannot find engsengine.dll.

Does anyone know what this is all about and what I can do to rectify. Have
tried system restore however even though there are many restore points
(times) none of them seem to work as it cannot detect a change to windows.

Culprit of my problems may be that I installed IMesh (file sharing program)
and then had some associated problems, so I installed AdAware and
quarantined a large number of items. This is when the error message started.
Tried reversing the quarantine process but this has not helped.

Any help is appreciated.

Click Start/Run/MSCONFIG/Startup tab. Uncheck the item.
Delete the file 00026668.exe manually.

Update Ad-Aware and re-scan again:

1. Start Ad-Aware.
2. Click [Check for Updates] [Connect] and download the latest pattern file if available. and click Finish
3. Click [Start] [Next] (System will now detect the spyware)
4. After the scan is finished, click [Next]
5. Select all the items (checkboxes)
Right click on any object in the "Scan result" list and choose [Select all objects]
6. Click Next and click OK to confirm spyware removal.
