0 line response's in messages pains?

Could someone please explain the cause of 0 showing in the line field in place of the number of
lines? I use three pane view with collapsed threading. If I mark body for retrieval upon
retrieval the 0 line message displays "[Press M to mark this message for later retrieval.]". Any
ideas?
