Hi. I'm looking for advice on how to remove something from my system.
I have an annoying pop-up on my computer, advertising various Zango
products (Zango messenger, Games, etc). It seems to appear when I'm
logged into MSN or Yahoo(usually when I using groups). I've spent two
weeks attempting to locate and eradicate it from my hard drive, but it
appears to be invisible. I have also tried running a System
Restore(normally the most effective way to deal with this kind of
problem), but the pop-up reappears as soon as I log into MSN.
Please note that this is NOT the actual Zango program, it's a pop-up
advertising products marketed by 180search Assistant.com. I have no
idea how it got into my hard disk in the first place, as I didn't
download it from any site. It's more than just annoying, it intereferes
with the normal fuctioning of my computer, and although I can't be
certain, I suspect it's using my various email accounts to distribute
copies of itself.
As I said, it appears to be invisible; it doesn't show up on any of my
searches, I can't find it in the program files, and there's no trace of
it when I use the Add/Remove function in the control panel. If you have
any advice on how to get rid of this thing, I would be most grateful to
receive it.
Thanks, K.
