VL Media Player and Zango

I followed the advice given at
http://msmvps.com/blogs/tohlz/archive/2007/12/24/insert-flv-video-into-powerpoint.aspx
(part of tohlz's blog, I think) for running flv videos from PPT. There it
says that.there are several programs which allow you to view Flash Video.
One example is VLC Media Player, which is free and can be downloaded at
http://www.videolan.org.

I did download and install the free version of VL media player as
suggested - BIG MISTAKE! As part of the installation process it also
installs, without permission, Zango Adware. The instructions for removal of
Zango via Control Panel do not work. Using the Uninstall program hidden
amongst the \Program files makes things worse as it does not uninstall - it
just attempts to install more adware. It has taken me quite a time to clean
up my machine - and I'm not even sure that I have finally achieved it.

Be warned.
