QuickBooks by default seems to back up to the CD Burning staging folder,
which should then result in the nice balloon prompt leading the user to
insert a CD and write the backup file to it. But this popup balloon no
longer appears for this user. The only thing I notice is that the CD
Burning staging folder already has some files in it. Does this cause the
popup balloon to not appear (until the folder has been emptied)? Or is
there some Registry or interface switch that causes the balloon to fail?
Other?
By the way, the IMAPI CD Burning service is automatically started, in case
that figures in. And the CD drive properties Recording tab is set to allow
burning on this device. And in fact, if the user opens the CD-RW drive from
My Computer, Write These Files To CD is an active option in the Tasks pane.
This problem is on a month-old Win XP SP2 HP Pavilion running the McAfee
Security Suite.
