yep, I definitely am infected

The infection is in c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared
files\web server extensions\bots\40\vinavbar.

At first, there was no problem with my computer. Just in case, I used
Norton Antivirus to quarantine the directory.

Just moments ago, I tried to download Spybot. No progress dialog came
up, and at the end of the download I was told "the document contains no
data".

I am at a loss as to what to do. Any suggestions?

I reinstalled my browser and was able to download Spybot. I ran it to
clean up and immunize, then downloaded the updates and ran it again.
Everything seems to be okay now, even though the vinavbar subdirectory
still exists. I notice the bots subdirectory is completely empty.

I didn't have time this morning, but I tried the URL, and it supports
only IE. I use Netscape. Thanks anyway, tho.
