Howdy,

I have an old XP Pro puter still running original release of XP. This puter
is hardly used for anything except a few proprietary type programs and is
NOT connected to the internet. I wanted to update to SP 2. I couldn't find a
downloadable SP2 except for the network one
(WindowsXP-KB835935-SP-ENU.exe) - would this work on a standalone? Or, if
not where can I find a SP2 for single machine that I can dl and burn to a
cd?

tnx,
R.

You can order SP2 cd free from Microsoft. I don't remember exactly where it
is on their web but you should be able to find the page easy.

That's it.
Grab it - do it.
(Or don't - up to you.)

Yes, it will work, and that's the correct download. Ignore the word
"network," which is just confusing.

First do some reading on prepping for the upgrade.
See my web site for some links.

Thanks Michael.

Upgrade failed, something about the key not matching. I'm kinda not too
surprised as this machine was a lease-return (a used corporate machine) I
bought a few years ago.

So I guess I get to buy yet another copy of XP Pro.

Question now is....What happens when I try to install a new copy of XP Pro
SP2 over the old used machine's XP Pro? Will I still have a problem with the
keys not matching?

addition.

Rob

I like full versions.. they are more expensive, but allow for installing on
future machines, and do not require qualifying operating systems..
